Objective
Preventing children to drop out of school by giving a scholarship to the poorest children of the ‘Truong Trieu Hoc Cam Phu Bac So 1’ school in Cam Ranh.
The school
Through a Dutch -Vietnamese businessman Smart Tulip has come in contact with a primary school in Cam Ranh (near Nha Trang), a poor fisherman village. Cam Ranh is a village where he and his parents lived before they escaped to the Netherlands in the seventies. He now tries to collect money for this village for increasing the access to education. The school has 360 students, 30 students per class.
Who gets support from Smart Tulip
Smart Tulip also provides a contribution to the learning environment of the school by financing school furniture for three class rooms. Since August 2008, the students are using new school furniture.
Scholarships for 30 poor students
Yearly, Smart Tulip hands out scholarships to 30 students living in Cam Ranh een beurs. With the money of this scholarship we pay: schoolfees, health insurance and materials (pens and books).
